New kid on the block Thomas Setitaia feels right at home being part of the Sportsworld Fiji Under-20 squad for the Oceania Rugby U20 challenge at Prince Charles Park in Nadi next week.
“It’s good to make the final squad to represent Fiji, its pretty good,” he said.
“That was one of the goals at the start of the year, especially going down to Taupo, New Zealand playing against them (Fiji U20). It was good to be invited to come back and represent the national squad.”
Setitaia hails from Tovu, Totoya, in Lau and resides in New Zealand with his family.
“I’m focused on nailing my role as a flanker and I know the boys I’ll be playing alongside would do their job,” he said.
“I’m pretty confident, it hasn’t been easy with training. These guys have put their front foot forward and they’ve picked the best 28 they could so I’m confident with the results for next week.”
Setitaia represented the Moana Pasifika side in the Super Rugby Pacific U20 tournament in March.
“It was actually pretty special to be selected. This is probably the highest achievement I’ve accomplished so far,” he said.
“I got to the job first and represent my family.”
Setitaia was excited to be play against his Moana Pasifika team-mates in the Tonga and Samoan side.
