FRCS Intelligence Manager Becomes Seventh Person Charged in 4.8kg Methamphetamine Bust
@Source:

Nadi, Fiji – The head of the Intelligence Unit at the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS), Osea Raicama Dakai, appeared in the Nadi Magistrates Court this week, becoming the seventh person formally charged in connection with a major drug bust involving 4.8 kilograms of methamphetamine.

Mr. Dakai faces two serious charges:

  • Unlawful importation of illicit drugs
  • Breach of the Secrecy Oath under the Fiji Revenue and Customs Act 1998

The court denied him bail, and the case has now been transferred to the Lautoka High Court for further proceedings. It is scheduled to be called on June 2 for mention.

This high-profile case continues to unravel with growing concern, as two of the seven individuals charged are confirmed to be officers from the Counter Narcotics Bureau, a unit operating under the Ministry of Policing.

The arrest of a senior intelligence figure from FRCS has sparked alarm within enforcement agencies, as authorities work to uncover the full extent of the drug operation and any potential breach of internal systems meant to safeguard national security.

The investigation remains ongoing.
