Gio van Bronckhorst breaks Leeds United silence as Marco Rose given Rangers seal of approval

Ex Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has broken his silence on links with the Leeds United job. But the former Ibrox gaffer is adamant there has been no contact over the prospect of replacing Daniel Farke at the newly-promoted Yorkshire giants. The Dutchman has been out of work since he was axed as Besiktas boss earlier this season after a disastrous spell in Turkish football. But he was linked with a surprise move to become the new boss of the Elland Road side after Rangers' prospective new owners, 49ers Enterprises , reportedly expressed doubts over the suitability of current manager Daniel Farke to manage in the Premier League after he was relegated at Norwich City. Van Bronckhorst was working pitchside as a Dutch TV pundit this week during his former club Barcelona's Champions League semi-final with Inter Milan. And the ex-Ibrox boss was asked directly about whether he was going to be the new manager of Leeds. He said: "Yes, I read about it. But there's nothing going on at the moment. Are Leeds a nice club? Definitely. "I am enjoying life now, but I think it would be nice to be back on the pitch.” And he was backed for the job by his former Rangers teammate Ronald de Boer, who was also working with Dutch TV. De Boer said: "We'll see what happens, but I would think it would be a nice club for him. "Leeds is potentially a club that could become very big. I certainly think of them as a sleeping giant." Elsewhere Marco Rose's exit from RB Leipzig left German international David Raum – annoyed – as he reckons the Rangers linked boss is one of the best in the world. And he's revealed Rose is spending his time out of work trying to improve his golf handicap. Rangers have been linked with a move for Rose, who was sacked by Leipzig in March after a disappointing season, after their American takeover is completed. The former Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach boss is expected to be targeted by plenty of clubs in the summer. And Leipzig's German international star Raum admits he was gutted at the departure of his former boss. He said: "It was a very emotional farewell for me. Not just from him, but also from his entire coaching team. I was also a bit annoyed, I have to say. Because, for me, he's a top-notch coach - one of the best. And in my opinion, he did a really good job here. "Actually, we didn't get along that well at first. Or rather, we were both a bit stubborn. But once we got to know each other's way of working, we connected. "Marco Rose always sought close contact with us, with every single player. I had a really good professional and personal relationship with him. "After he left, I had no contact from him at first because I think he had to process things a bit and so did I. But that's changed now because we have spoken on the phone and arranged to play a round of golf soon."
