I have personally reviewed a number of earbuds and headphones for FutureFive NZ, but the JBL Tour One MC headphones might be the best ones yet. It does come with a high price tag, though, so those of you interested in these headphones will need to have a lot of disposable income!
Let's break down what is included in the JBL Tour One M3 headphones, and how good they really are.
The biggest elephant in the room is that the JBL Tour One M3 headphones are the most expensive pair of headphones that I have ever reviewed on this site.
At most major New Zealand retailers, the RRP for this device is a high $569.99 NZD.
I have usually reviewed headphones that cost around $200 NZD to $300 NZD, so this is a huge gap in price. It goes without saying that only hardcore audio enthusiasts should invest in this product.
What's included?
The JBL Tour One M3 headphones come with several items out of the box.
Here's a rundown of what is included.
JBL Tour One M3 headphones
Smart TX audio transmitter
Carrying case
USB-C charging cable
3.5mm cable jack
As you can see above, you get a complete package of goods when you buy the JBL Tour M3 headphones. The headphones themselves are Bluetooth-enabled and can pretty much connect to any modern device, such as the Nintendo Switch 2, your tablet, or your phone. The battery life is pretty impressive because they last for an average of 70 hours on a full charge.
The JBL Smart TX is also included, and this is JBL's audio transmitter that comes with its own touchscreen. No app is required to download if you want to tinker with the headphones' many settings and features.
Probably my favourite feature of this device is that it includes a 3.5 mm audio jack cable. This means you can use the headphones on any device that has a traditional audio jack. I can easily connect them to my Nintendo Switch 2, or use them on my PS5 and Xbox One Series X controllers too.
Lastly, the headphones come with a handy carrying case. This should prevent the headphones from getting any dust if you aren't using them. The carrying case is sturdy, so your headphones should be safe even if you drop the case on the ground.
Audio quality
One of the main reasons this device is so expensive is that the audio quality of the headphones is immaculate. I am not exaggerating when I say this, but the JBL Tour One M3 headphones might be the best headphones I have ever used in my entire life!
It's one of the first times I've used a pair of headphones that can mimic the surround sound system of a cinema. I watched several blockbuster movies on my phone, and the sound is deep, loud, and 3D. My favourite movies to watch/listen using these headphones were definitely Man of Steel or any Star Wars film.
Not to mention the audio cable enables users to easily connect these headphones to their PS5 or Xbox Series X controllers, too. Action games like Call of Duty sound great using these headphones, as do some sports titles with the loud crowd noises.
Music is always a great choice for these headphones as well. It has heavy bass, and music like Metallica sounds loud and crisp as it should be. Don't worry music fans, these headphones are also great at cancelling outside noise too.
While these headphones are very expensive, they are still the best ones I have ever reviewed. If you can afford it, you should try to get them. If you're not loaded with cash, you may want to wait until it's on sale instead.
