Despite his incredible record, the Czech shot-stopper also found himself on the receiving end of some unforgettable moments, including a goal from Ronaldinho that left him stunned.
Ronaldinho’s moment of magic at Stamford Bridge
Throughout his career, Cech built a reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, holding the record for the most clean sheets in Premier League history.
However, even the best are not immune to moments of brilliance, and Ronaldinho delivered one of the most famous goals in Champions League history against him at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea had stormed into a 3-0 lead against Barcelona, looking set to overturn their first-leg deficit. But Ronaldinho, always capable of the spectacular, produced a jaw-dropping toe-poked strike that left Cech rooted to the spot.
The unorthodox finish caught everyone off guard, including the Chelsea goalkeeper, who later admitted he had no time to react.
Cech stunned by Ronaldinho magic
Recalling the moment, Cech explained: “I remember it quite well. I thought he was going to step over and go one way or the other, and then he stopped completely and you think ‘what is he going to do?’ And you see he started dancing around it, and then he used the toe punt.
“The worst thing is it was so quick and so surprising, the moment I was ready to push, the ball was by my side. It was a good strike, but the surprise!
“You don’t expect that, you always feel like they prepare for the better shot, but the best players always find a solution to get a bit of space and the shot away.”
Despite conceding that wonder goal, Cech and his teammates managed to secure victory thanks to a late John Terry header.
