Jamie Laing is preparing for a huge Red Nose Day challenge, running over 150 miles in five days, despite struggling with a painful hip injury. As he gears up for the ultra marathon from London to Salford, Jamie has opened up about the injuries he's facing, with his family worried about him taking on the task. Starting on Monday, March 17, Jamie, 36, will run across the country, finishing in Salford on Friday, March 21, for Comic Relief. The entire run will be broadcast live on Radio 1 and BBC Sounds, with special guests joining Jamie along the way. His Radio 1 colleagues will meet him at each finish line to provide updates. The presenter revealed that the biggest thing helping him through the challenge is his "naivety." He said: "I think with mental preparation, I don’t think you can think about it too much, if I’m honest. I think my naivety is my biggest power. I don’t know how much this is going to hurt. I think I’m leaning on that. I’m going to take it literally one kilometer at a time. Yeah, that’s what I’m literally thinking in my head. OK, let’s just keep going. Let’s just keep going. Let’s just be going. And I just want to raise as much money," he told Metro. Jamie also revealed he's already struggling with some injuries from training. He said: "Shin splints aren't great, my hip feels like it’s about to fall off." The Candy Kittens founder opened up about his mum's worry as well as his wife's, Sophie Habboo. He said: "My mom’s a bit worried, to be honest. She’s a bit like, Oh, God, this is a bit much. And my Sophie, my wife, is actuallya bit like, “I’m actually a bit worried for you now." The Radio 1 host admitted that he has never taken on a challenge quite like the upcoming ultra marathon. While he's participated in tough activities before, including cross-country runs, boot camps, and rugby matches, he acknowledged that this challenge is unlike anything he's ever done. He described the upcoming feat as completely wild. Jamie and his wife Sophie were recently victims of a car robbery, which left them both puzzled and unsettled. Earlier today, Jamie recounted how the pair found their car near their London home with its door slightly open, a clear sign that something was amiss. Upon closer inspection, he realised their car had been raided by thieves. Speaking to his co-hosts Vick Hope and Katie Thistleton, Jamie shared the bizarre aftermath: "So, I live in London, I was with my wife Sophie and we went to get in our car. It's parked around the place we live and it's London, right? Things maybe go missing occasionally or whatever. I walked up to the car and the car looked a little bit funny. The door was slightly open and I was, like, 'Hang on a second, has someone managed to get into the car?' Came up to the car and we had been robbed." But it wasn't just the break-in that was odd." Jamie continued: "My grandmother gave me a bowl for Christmas and they had taken it out of the car. Everything was gone, but whoever had done it had left us a pineapple and a melon. They left the pineapple in one seat and the melon in another seat. I said to my wife, 'Did you leave these in the car?' and she was like, 'No?', so I don't know if it's a sign or the mark they leave." The fruit mystery deepened as Jamie pondered whether to eat the pineapple, but ultimately decided against it due to the "eerie" nature of the situation. Like this story?
