The driver also used his phone to track the police airwing and play music as he drove. He later weaved in and out of traffic while driving fast.
When his passengers screamed at him to slow down and stop, the judge said, the driver turned the music up.
“Your passengers had repeatedly told you to stop. They started screaming for you to stop, but you kept saying, ‘Nah, I’m going to make it [through an intersection],’” Lewis said.
Taylor, from Ashburton, died on his way to soccer training when the stolen Jeep Cherokee collided with his Toyota Corolla at the intersection of Warrigal Road and Highbury Road in Burwood.
