Louth and proud: Wee County punching above its weight in the football league and on the world stage

The signs were there that it was going to be Louth’s weekend. On Friday, Dundalk’s Kate O’Connor claimed Ireland’s first World Athletics Indoor Championship medal in 19 years when she won silver in the pentathlon in China.
Blackrock’s Jimmy Dunne had been called up to the Ireland soccer squad and would win his first cap on Sunday night, while, in between, the Louth footballers secured Division 2 status by beating rivals Meath in Inniskeen.
