Manchester United given clear £75m transfer message amid Victor Osimhen decision
@Source: manchestereveningnews.co.uk
Manchester United's search for a new forward remains ongoing but supporters have offered their thoughts over where they should be looking. It is quite clear that United's number one priority in the summer transfer window is to try and find a solution to their goalscoring woes. United only managed 44 Premier League goals last term - the fifth lowest tally in the Premier League - and forwards Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee managed just seven league goals between them. It is something they have to rectify this summer and while the arrival of Matheus Cunha, who scored 17 goals for Wolves last season, and the protracted signing of Bryan Mbeumo, who scored 20 goals for Brentford, will help, they still need to sign an out and out forward. After failing to sign Liam Delap, who opted to join Chelsea instead, United have been linked with Sporting CP goalscorer Viktor Gyokeres, Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen and Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike. All three players have excellent goalscoring records for their clubs but would likely demand huge fees to bring them to Old Trafford . With that in mind, the Manchester Evening News surveyed supporters on the club's striker search and the results from the 14222 responses were clear. Of the three aforementioned forwards, 42 per cent of fans were keen to sign Osimhen, 41 per cent of fans want United to sign Gyokeres and just nine per cent of supporters want them to sign Ekitike. And of those surveyed, 61 per cent of fans expect United to spend between £60-75million on a new forward, while only 16 per cent of fans feel United should pay beyond the £75million threshold. Meanwhile, 19 per cent of fans feel as if should only spend between £50-60million on a new striker. --- Here at the Manchester Evening News, we’re dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.
