Mohammed Siraj Fans Spot Subtle Detail In Photo Of Indian Cricket Team With King Charles III
@Source: news18.com
Indian cricketers, both women’s and men’s teams, met up with King Charles III at St. James’s Palace on Tuesday, a day after India lost the thrilling Test at the Lord’s Cricket Ground. The monarch was seen interacting with Indian captain Shubman Gill about the narrow defeat. He met skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who led India to a 3-2 victory over England in a five-match T20I series. The monarch also recalled Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj’s dismissal, calling it “unfortunate”. The teams then got together and posed for a photograph with King Charles III.
When the photo hit social media, Siraj fans were quick to notice that the Indian fast pacer appeared to be exhibiting no emotions and wasn’t smiling in the snap.

Siraj’s Heartbreak
Tasked to chase 193 in the fifth and final day of the third Test at Lord’s, Indian batters faced a collapse of sorts, leaving them at 82/7 at one stage. When it looked India had fumbled the run chase, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja found support from the visiting team’s tail. Both Jasprit Bumrah and Siraj, India’s 10th and 11th batters respectively, put up a fight that frustrated the English men. Bumrah braved 54 deliveries for his 5, while Siraj fended off 29 deliveries to keep India alive, while Jadeja kept his quiet and resilient battle on.

It was, however, the 30th delivery that Siraj faced and defended that somehow ended India’s gritty run chase. Facing spinner Shoaib Bashir, Siraj middled the ball, which spun and rolled back onto the stumps. This disturbed the woodwork, and a bail dislodged.
The disappointment on his face was almost palpable.

Acknowledging that Siraj had put up a brave fight, members of the English team walked up to the pacer. They consoled and congratulated him for his spirited display.

Siraj Speaks Up
The Indian bowler finally broke his silence when he took over to his Instagram account to share snapshots from the absorbing Test at the iconic venue.
“Some matches stay with you, not for the outcome, but for what they teach,” Siraj captioned his post. The cricketer shared highlights from the match, including his top moments and the final moment of despair painted all over his face.

Siraj Punished
If losing the match wasn’t enough, Siraj was later punished for his on-field behaviour during the match as ICC slapped him with a 15% fine on his match fees. The Indian pacer had breached Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during England’s second innings. Siraj admitted the offence and the penalty for his behaviour noted by the on-field and TV umpire.
India were bowled out for 170 in their second innings as England finished the match with a 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series. The visiting squad will now look to square the series when they meet the hosts at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester on July 23.
