Vantara is an ambitious wildlife preservation project founded by Anant Ambani and supported by Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation. Situated within the Jamnagar Refinery Complex in Gujarat India Vantara spans 3000 acres and serves as a wildlife sanctuary for abused injured and endangered animals. It is Indias one-of-a kind rehabilitation centre conceptualised under the leadership and guidance of Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambanis son Anant Ambani.
From a tender age Anant has a soft corner and pure love for animals. Nita Ambani once recalled that how Anant at the age of two rescued a group of hens from Crawford market. This early act of compassion and kindness towards animals has been consistent in Anants life driving him to share deep love for them.
Driven by his empathy for animals Anant established Vantara a revered and wildlife preservation project. The programme has rescued over 200 elephants and thousands of endangered species reptiles and birds from dangerous situations. Moreover Vantara has created world class animal conservation and care practices including hospitals research healthcare and academic centres. Moreover the Vantara initiative has collaborated with reputed organisations such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF).

The Director of Reliance Industries Anant Ambani revealed that his father Mukesh Ambani is a wildlife enthusiast and is his biggest inspiration behind establishing Vantara. While speaking to CNN-News 18 Anant revealed I would do it in my childhood. And my father is one of the biggest wildlife buffs. For example when we were young I think till the age of 18 I’d not gone on any other family holiday except Africa Ranthambore and the jungles of Kanha Bandhavgarh and Kaziranga. My father would only take us on jungle holidays. So I think they inspired me to do this. And to be honest for domestic animals there are many people who are doing a lot of good work across the country.
Last year Prime Minster Narendra Modi visited Anant Ambanis Vantara and awarded the Prani Mitra National Award which is considered the highest honour in animal welfare by the Government of India.
