PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio -- A year after spending $1.2 million to repave portions of Kingsdale Boulevard and N. Church Drive, Parma Heights expects to spend roughly the same amount on its 2025 road program. “We continue to address road improvements in Parma Heights,” Mayor Marie Gallo said. “In fact, we’re already looking at road projects for 2026 as well.” The 2025 road project boasts an asphalt mill and fill with full-depth repairs as needed, as well as ADA-compliant curb ramps and pavement markings. The list of streets includes Berkshire Road, Colebrook Drive, Dellrose Drive (Ackley Road to Manorford Drive), Elsetta Avenue, Glendora Lane, Lotusdale Drive, Mallo Place, Roxbury Road, Sherborn Road, Stoneham Road (Colebrook Drive to Westborough Road), Westborough Road and Wickfield Drive. “This year we’re focusing on side streets,” Parma Heights Service Director Bob Sepik said. “We’re trying to start sooner than later. I’m guessing probably the middle of May.” There’s also the planned Ackley Road resurfacing project, which calls for 1,307 feet of paving east from Pearl Road to Dellrose Drive. Parma Heights recently received good news in the form of $150,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding toward the estimated $272,000 Ackley Road project cost. “We apply for the Community Development Block Grant every year,” Gallo said. “We always try to be optimistic about our request. Joe Sebes, our grant coordinator, continues to do a great job with that grant application. We’re grateful to Cuyahoga County for the award.” The city received four bids for the Ackley Road work -- including ADA sidewalks, new curbs, water boxes and catch basins -- that is expected to be awarded soon and begin in late spring or early summer.
