Pusha T has responded to criticism that he only raps about one topic.
The Clipse duo visited the Joe and Jada podcast to talk about their new album Let God Sort Em Out and the topic of Pusha’s frequent references to drug dealing came up. Fat Joe brought up some of the criticism he’s heard and said that he also finds himself writing raps about the same things even with the success he’s had. Jadakiss then chimed in and admitted that it becomes a challenge to rap about those things once you become successful, however, he feels like some of the people that are critical aren’t really listening to what they’re saying and how they’re saying it anyway.
“Rap has always come from a real place,” Push responded before comparing what he does to mob flicks. “At this point, I liken it to somebody that likes mob movies. I don’t watch horror, I watch A&E; it’s scarier, I believe it. You can’t please everybody. 23 years in this? I’m not tryna please nobody but myself, that’s what I care about.”

Pusha T added, “I know that my taste, my ear, and what it is that I wanna hear that resonates with that type of person, that’s the type of person I wanna talk to. The person who says that… man, I’m sure I don’t even gel with you anyway. I’m positive I don’t like you. I take it with a grain of salt, but more importantly I know who my family is.”
