Ryan Kent handed transfer lifeline as MLS head coach drops big hint on ex Rangers star
@Source: dailyrecord.co.uk
Ryan Kent looks set to try and resurrect his career with Seattle Sounders in the MLS - with the US side's head coach hinting that the former Rangers star's arrival across the pond is imminent. Former Liverpool youngster Kent left Ibrox to join Turkish giants Fenerbahce on a free transfer at the expiration of his contract at Ibrox in the summer of 2023. However, Kent 's time in Istanbul was was from a success. He managed just one goal in 18 appearances last season and the arrival of two-time Champions League winner Jose Mourinho in the dugout ahead of the current campaign swiftly brought an end to any hopes he had of kicking on at Fenerbahce. After the club failed to secure a transfer exit for Kent last summer, his contract was mutually terminated in October after making just one appearance in the current campaign. The ex England youth international has been linked with several teams since his Fenerbahce departure, including Leeds United as well as their English Championship rivals Bristol City. Some Rangers fans have even called for the wide man to be brought back to Ibrox despite his five years there previously being marred with inconsistency following his £9million switch from Liverpool in 2019. Kent registered 33 goals and 56 assists during his time with the Gers, picking up winners' medals in the Premiership and Scottish Cup. But with the 28-year-old reportedly being spotted Stateside, Seattle head coach Brian Schmetzer has attempted to play down the rumours that Kent is on the verge of signing on with the MLS club. He told the media on Thursday: "I said there might have been a guy named Ryan (Kent) at SeaTac. "I said I might have seen him in the facility today. You guys can read into it what you want."
