A teenage boy who met with a 13-year-old girl after asking her to perform oral sex on him ran away after he saw her friends hiding in bushes. The victim said she was worried about what could have happened to her, due to the age and size difference between them. Cody Price, 19, contacted his victim over Snapchat and she initially thought he had done so by mistake. But when questioned, the defendant admitted deliberately contacting her and after she told him she was 13 years old, he asked to meet up with her so she could perform oral sex on him. A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday heard the victim told older friends about the messages and they decided to go along with the arrangements and confront Price. During the walk, Price became aware they were being followed and saw the girls, which caused him to run away. The defendant, of Clos y Culfor, St Mellons, Cardiff, denied arranging the commission of a child sex offence, but was found guilty following a trial. Summarising the victim personal statement, prosecutor Abigail Jackson said: "This incident had a real impact upon her, she was aged only 13 at the time of the incident and the defendant was older than her. "She was fearful about what could have happened because of the age difference and the size difference. "She described the fear she felt when the defendant put pressure on her not to tell others about what had taken place. She was fearful of telling others and speaking to police officers about the incident, she feared she would be the one who got into trouble. "She described the fear and anxiety in the run up to the trial and the stress she was caused by having to give evidence in the crown court. "She describes going forwards how this experience has made her not want to talk to boys because she feels she cannot trust them. She is a more anxious person than she was before this incident and is nervous all the time." Price was to be dealt with for a number of other offences before the court, including burglary and theft of a Toyota Yaris in Cardiff on August 10 last year. The victim realised a car key had been taken from their property and their car had also been stolen. The Yaris was later discovered at St Mellons Business Park and had received extensive damage. The defendant was discovered after mobile phone footage showed him behind the wheel of the Yaris with others inside the car. On November 10 last year, Price and another man were involved in the burglary of a property in Cardiff where a Volkswagen Golf, a PlayStation 5, an XBox and a collection of samurai swords were taken. The defendant and the other man were identified on CCTV footage taken from a neighbour's house, and when the victim contacted Price, who was known to him, the defendant responded: "Watch this, if I get charged you're dead. The final offence was committed when police were called to Price's home after someone had smashed a window. CCTV footage was examined and the defendant was seen leaving the address in possession of a machete before smashing the windows. The address was later searched and a long machete was found hidden behind a washing machine. Price later pleaded guilty to theft, burglary, aggravated vehicle taking, driving without a licence/insurance, allowing himself to be carried in a stolen vehicle, using threatening/abusive/insulting words or behaviour and possession of a bladed article. In mitigation, Hilary Roberts said his client was a young man when "all this started" and was considered to be "immature and easily led". He said the defendant had found himself in a "cauldron of trouble", but had been offered a job in roofing upon his release from prison. Price was sentenced to a total of 22 months imprisonment. He was also made subject to a restraining order, sex offender notification requirements for seven years and disqualified from driving for 12 months upon his release.
