Jasprit Bumrah Eyes Ishant Sharma's All-Time Record During IND-ENG Test At Lord's
@Source: news18.com
Jasprit Bumrah, after a well-deserved rest of more than two weeks, will be back in action on Thursday (July 10). The 31-year-old fast bowler from Ahmedabad, who tops the ICC Test bowler’s ranking, will lead India’s bowling attack in the third Test against England at Lord’s. India’s captain Shubman Gill, during the post-match presentation ceremony at Edgbaston on Sunday (July 6), confirmed the news of Bumrah’s involvement in the red-ball match at the Home of Cricket.
During the third Test at Lord’s, Bumrah will have a chance to create history. If the right-arm pacer manages to dismiss a total of seven English batters, then he will break Ishant Sharma’s record of 48 wickets and become India’s leading wicket-taker in Test matches against England in England.
Ishant, who last played a red-ball match for India in 2021, has dismissed 48 batters in 14 Tests played so far in England against England. On the other hand, Bumrah has 42 wickets to his name in nine Tests played so far in England against England.

Dev, who is the only Indian pacer to take more than 400 wickets in Test cricket, played 13 Tests against England in England and accounted for the dismissal of 43 batters.
If Bumrah manages to take at least eight wickets in the second Test, then he will become the first Indian bowler to take 50 Tests against England in England.
Bumrah has three five-wicket hauls to his name in England. The ICC Cricketer and ICC Test Cricketer of the Year 2024 played the first Test of the ongoing five-match series and picked up five wickets for 83 runs in 24.4 overs in the first innings. He missed the second match at Edgbaston in Birmingham as part of his workload management.
The overall record of taking the most wickets in India-England Tests in England is in the name of former England pacer James Anderson. During his more than two-decade-long Test career, Anderson played 22 Tests against India at home and picked up 105 wickets.
