Paul Pogba transfer meetings held with agents amid Man United return claims
@Source: manchestereveningnews.co.uk
D.C. United are reportedly in long-standing negotiations with Paul Pogba as the former Manchester United player remains a free agent. Pogba, who turned 32 earlier this year, was linked with a wildcard appearance in Baller League , but it is our understanding no talks have taken place as the former United midfielder is fully focused on a return to professional football. The midfielder has been without a club since reaching a mutual agreement with Juventus to terminate his contract in late November. He was still serving a doping ban then, but has been free to train with clubs since the start of this year and play competitive matches since March. A decision on his future is now reportedly close. The Washington Post reports that there is an expectation the player will decide over the coming weeks. They claim contract talks with MLS outfit D.C. United have been happening for months. Pogba has reportedly met their chief executive, Jason Levien, with whom his agents are said to be in a greater degree of contact. An exchange of contract proposals has purportedly happened between the parties. Other opportunities mentioned are remaining in Europe or moving to the Middle East. D.C. United are the only Major League Soccer club Pogba could play for, as they reportedly own his discovery rights to negotiate exclusively with the player. Rio Ferdinand previously discussed the prospect of returning to United soon after the winter transfer window closed. "I'd say to Pogba, 'Come in and train with us, let me see what you've got'. I'd do that. I would have done that already. Come in and get fit," he explained. More recently, Pogba provided an update on social media . "I have been training by myself, but never giving up and always chasing my dream and what I want to achieve," he said in a video on Instagram . The player also intimated he is "still hungry for the comeback" and signed off by saying: "I will see you very soon". --- Here at the Manchester Evening News, we’re dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.
