Report: Liverpool set to snub Osimhen, as Reds prepare to break British transfer record for Premier League striker

Premier League champions Liverpool are reportedly set to spend big on a striker this summer, but it will not be Victor Osimhen
Liverpool are ready to turn heads in the transfer market once again with a striker signing, and it is not Victor Osimhen in their sights.
According to reports from GIVEMESPORT, the Merseyside club is preparing an eye-watering £100 million-plus bid for a Premier League-proven striker ahead of the new Premier League season.
Slot eyes Isak as Darwin Nunez exit looms
After clinching the Premier League title, new boss Arne Slot is wasting no time reshaping Liverpool’s front line.
With Darwin Nunez reportedly heading for the Anfield exit, amid serious interest from Napoli, Atletico Madrid, and clubs in Saudi Arabia, Liverpool are planning a massive swoop for Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.
The Swedish striker has been electric at Newcastle, with some touting him as "the best striker in the world" on current form.
Liverpool are willing to go big to get their man, with a proposed £100 million bid that could rise with add-ons, potentially smashing the British transfer record once again after the Reds’ signing of Florian Wirtz did so this window as well.
The Reds previously rejected a £59 million offer for Nunez in January, but would now consider letting him go to raise funds for the Isak push.
Osimhen overlooked as Liverpool sharpen focus on Premier League-proven star
While Nigerian sensation Victor Osimhen has been persistently linked to Liverpool, the club now appears to be leaning toward Premier League-proven quality over continental stardom.
Although Osimhen remains admired at Anfield, especially after his prolific season at Galatasaray on loan, the decision-makers see Isak as a more immediate fit.
Osimhen’s high price tag, combined with his availability only through a rigid €75 million release clause for non-Serie A clubs and a large salary, complicates negotiations.
Liverpool are also tracking Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike, and Benjamin Sesko, but Isak sits firmly atop their wishlist.
With Newcastle only likely to consider offers north of £150 million due to their Champions League qualification, Liverpool are poised to push hard and deep into their pockets to make this transfer a reality.
